Move your domain to Stack Media Hosting
Transfer a Domain
Keep your domain, website and email in one place. Every transfer adds a year to your registration.*
Before you transfer
Do these at your current domain provider first. It takes about five minutes.
Unlock your domain
Turn off the transfer lock (sometimes called registrar lock) in your current provider's domain settings.
Get your auth code
Also called an EPP or transfer code. Your provider shows it in your account or emails it to you.
Check your email address
Make sure the domain's contact email is one you can get to. Transfer approvals are sent there.
Check the domain's age
Domains registered or transferred in the last 60 days can't move yet. That's a registry rule, not ours.
Transfer pricing
A transfer costs the same as a one-year renewal, and the year is added to your domain.

Common questions
How long does a transfer take?
Most transfers finish within 5 to 7 days. Approving the transfer email from your current provider can make it faster.
Will my website or email stop working?
Your domain's DNS settings carry over in most transfers, so your website and email keep running. We'll check your records with you before and after the move.
What is an auth code and where do I find it?
It's a password for your domain that proves you own it. Look for "auth code", "EPP code" or "transfer code" in your current provider's domain settings, or ask their support for it.
Do I lose the time left on my domain?
No. The year from the transfer is added to your current expiration date.
Why can't I transfer a domain I just registered?
Domain registries block transfers for 60 days after a domain is registered or transferred. Once that period is over, you can move it.
My domain has expired. Can I still transfer it?
It depends on how long ago it expired. Contact us and we'll help you get it back first.
